As the incoming 2006 President of AWRA, I wanted to encourage you to reflect on the ideas appearing in the January 2006 issue of Water Resources IMPACT on the topic of "Homeland Security." The papers discuss the vulnerabilities of our water supplies and water infrastructure and port facilities to both natural disasters and sabotage as well new approaches that can be used for enhanced protection. We hope you find issues raised and information provided both provocative and useful.
