摘要

The recent issues raised by the indigenous-led movement at the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation against the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) highlight two important aspects of aquatic system connectivity (ASC), an emerging, important concept in environmental science. A working definition of ASC is the ecological, hydrological and biogeochemical connections among individual aquatic systems.
