Bracing For New Budget Cuts, McCarthy Vows To Overhaul EPA Practices

EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy is vowing a major overhaul of long-time agency practices, as well as an intensive new effort to prioritize current spending, in order to respond to additional cuts to the agency's budget. EPA wants to "change the way we do business" as it copes with shrinking budgets, she told the agency's Science Advisory Board (SAB) Dec. 4. "This is a really hard time for EPA" as the agency's existing $8.4 billion budget faces the threat of further cuts, she said.
