摘要

The "dog days" of summer are those times when the temperature is high, the air is still, and heat seems to radiate out of everything around us. When water and wastewater treatment workers step out in the morning and hot air hits them in the face, they know they are facing an unpleasant day. What they need to understand is that they may also be facing a dangerous day. To prevent heat-related illnesses and accidents, employers must educate their employees and develop a strategy to help managers and supervisors prevent accidents while accomplishing needed work. Workers, meanwhile, have to know what actions to take to get the job done while recognizing hot weather as a health and safety issue.
