Donors at a high-level meeting on water and sanitation for all called by UNICEF and the World Bank recently announced plans to greatly expand access to improved water and sanitation for millions over the next two years.rnMinisters from developing countries also promised to provide tens of millions that already have access to improved drinking water sources with access to improved sanitation.rnThe meeting brought together ministers from 40 developing countries and donors including DFID (the UK Department of International Development), the government of Japan and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation who together committed to design innovative new projects, work with the private sector and non-governmental organisations, and extend access to improved drinking water sources and sanitation facilities to millions more ahead of 2015.
