Highlighting its focus on the development of high quality infrastructure to secure the long-term future of Canberra's water supply, in recent months the ACT government-owned 'multi-utility' ACTEW Corporation has completed and commissioned no less than four major water supply infrastructure projects. Together with the new Mount Stromlo Water Treatment Plant, ACTEW has also recently completed a major upgrade of its Googong Water Treatment Plant, and, as part of its comprehensive 'Drought Contingency package, refurbished its historic Cotter Pump Station and established a new pump station along the Murrumbidgee River. While these new facilities have clearly delivered a much-needed, significant and immediate increase in ACTEW's water supply capabilities, they only represent the first (albeit major) steps in ACTEW's long-term development plans.
