Appendix Ⅷ Overview of Naval Surface Warfare Systems

摘要

After 30 years in which surface warfare was eclipsed by other naval combat environments, it is once more becoming the dominant form of naval warfare. This is partly due to the slow emergence of China as a peer competitor to the U.S. Navy and partly to a general shift in warfare emphasis from the worldwide to the regional arena. In this emerging regional environment, the significance of smaller navies and the probability that they will be involved in conflict are enhanced.
