The Indonesian Defence Ministry has accepted delivery of the first of its new combat boats, a new style of fast patrol vessel equipped with a Cockerill Protected Weapon Station (CPWS) with one 30mm automatic cannon fitted above the crew cabin. The boat's designer and builder, PT Lundin, created the combat boat to patrol Indonesia's vast maritime domain, an area comprising 17,508 islands, of which many are sparsely settled or uninhabited.The region covers 3,100 miles from Aceh in the west across to West Papua in the east. In addition, numerous sea lanes pass through these important commercial waterways.
