With the entrance of new players, the makeup of the foreign exchange market has changed dramatically over the past six years, observes Dan Keeler, head of North American sales for ICAP's EBS FX platform. "Less than six years ago, EBS was strictly an interbank market. None of the active traders - prop shops, HFT, hedge fund, stat arb - were in the big market," he observes. "Banks used fingers and eyeballs to trade."
