300 years of the Mekong River Delta

The Mekong Delta was a new and promising land for the Vietnamese residents in the North and northern part of the Central region in the 17th century. Writer San Nam used to contemplate with his pen, "... If the people know how to handle it well they will have rice, river fish, crops, cool wind, less hot and muggy sun, and rain without mud." More than 300 years have passed, still there are two seasons, rainy and dry, in the Mekong Delta and its people still expect "the sediments to remain and refuse float away."
