Vietnamese Rice: Better Price but Short Supply

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in the first half of 2007, Vietnam has exported 2.318,000 tonnes of rice with turnover of US$731 million, 18.53 per cent less in volume and 5.83 per cent less in value compared to the same period last year. The main Vietnamese rice export market is Asia (76.58 per cent), the remaining goes to Africa (14.32 per cent) and America (5.9 per cent).So far, total rice export under signed agreements has reached 4.5 million tonnes (including 30 per cent by commercial agreements).
