1. In April 1974, when I was studying at Hanoi Foreign Trade University, I took a training course in foreign trade at Beijing University (China). I and 13 others from ministries and agencies, including the Ministries of Foreign Trade, Foreign Affairs and Public Security, arrived in China through Lang Son Border Gate. When in China, we took a train to Beijing. The weather in Beijing was much colder than Vietnam. We were warmly welcomed there. We ate our fill during our stay in Beijing though at that time lots of people in Vietnam were hungry. When I was a student, I enjoyed five Tet holidays in Beijing. The most impressive were the first Tet holiday and the Tet Holiday in 1976. I remember I and other students were invited to a teacher's house when we stayed first year in China. We and our teacher ground beans and rice all night to make two special dishes of Vietnam and China. The Chinese dish called Sui Cao and the Vietnamese dish called square glutinous rice cakes.
