Bill Wetzel, (Figure 1), who died on 17 March 2018 aged 89, was a Professor of Management at the University of New Hampshire Paul College of Business and Economics and former founding Director of the Center for Venture Research. Prior to his retirement in 1993, he held the Forbes Professor of Management Chair. He received numerous awards throughout his academic career including the Paul College Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2017, the New Hampshire High Technology Council Lifetime Creative Vision Award in 1993, the Ernst & Young New England Entrepreneur of the Year and the Babson Entrepreneurship Research Conference Lifetime Member Award in 1996.
