The relationship between the OHS Act, the regulations and the SANS wiring code

The regulations have numerous requirements that are entrenched in the wiring code. Only an accredited person may supervise installation work, inspect and test electrical installations and issue a CoC. Distribution board requirements were specifically included into the wiring code in about 1996. With the subsequent amendments, the minimum safety requirements are clearly describe for the purpose of design, manufacture, inspection, testing and certification. The user is responsible for the safety, safe use and maintenance of an electrical installation although the accredited person who issued the CoC and the manufacturer of the installed products also carry their part of responsibility.
