SAS RAMPS UP FOR 2006 & BEYOND

As IT managers at many companies begin to realize the power of networked storage, they are coming to the slow realization that their current storage infrastructures simply don't provide the scalability, performance and throughput they need to move their organizations and storage infrastructures forward. To solve that problem, many vendors are promoting a technology called Serial-Attached SCSI (SAS), a replacement for parallel SCSI and technologies such as ATA (Advanced Technology Attachment) and IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics) that requires less cabling, provides higher performance for users who need constant access to data, has better scalability and a data transfer rate of more than 3 GB/sec.
