CGN begins pouring first safety-related concrete at Taipingling 2

UxC has learned that China General Nuclear (CGN) began pouring the first safety-related concrete at Unit 2 of the Taipingling nuclear power plant in Guangdong Province, China, on October 15. The occasion marks the official start of construction for the HPR-1000 (Hualong One) reactor and follows a report from China’s National Nuclear Safety Administration (UxW34-42) that approved CGN’s plans to begin pouring foundational and safety-related concrete at the site. The Taipingling nuclear power plant is envisioned to host a total of six reactors when completed. CGN began pouring concrete at Unit 1 of the Taipingling nuclear power plant in December 2019.
