The New Economy of the Inner City: Restructuring, Regeneration and Dislocation in the Twenty-first-Century Metropolis

The main theme of this book is the restructuring of core urban economic activities and the related regeneration of inner cities in industrialised countries over the past 25 years. Major changes that have occurred since then are associated with the transformation of the traditional 'industrial city' (mainly starting in the 1970s), the rise of services that were reshaping the central business district in particular (mainly in thern1980s) and the more recent emergence of the 'new economy' and the cultural industries that have changed inner-city areas further since the mid 1990s and particularly during the first decade of the new millennium.
