What Makes a City? is about achieving urban quality in the redevelopment of high-speed train station areas. The author has justified the need for urban quality under "competitiveness of places" (Chapter 2) and has chosen high-speed train station area redevelopment for the discussion because of its implications on "local-regional connectivity" (Chapter 3). These theoretical fundamentals are followed by the analytical framework for enabling and assessing quality of place (Chapters 4 and 5).
