摘要

Several concurrent economic, social, and technological processes resulted in a sharp rise in tourism in the second half of the twentieth century. During that period, tourism was transformed from the exclusive luxury of the elite that it had been for centuries into a widespread phenomenon constituting part of the lifestyle of practically everyone in the developed world.
