Rosneft moves ahead on $100bn Vostok Oil plan

ROSNEFT claims to have taken a significant step towards realising an ambitious $100 billion Russian oilfield project, Vostok Oil, with construction work starting on a key export terminal. Contractor United Energy Building Corporation has brought the first supplies and equipment to shore on the Taymyr Peninsula to prepare for construction of the terminal in East Siberia's Yenisey Bay, Rosneft said. The terminal will allow the export of oil and condensate from Vostok Oil. Rosneft said the first phase of the facility will allow it to load up to 600,000 barrels per day of oil. Chairman Igor Sechin has repeatedly said that Vostok Oil may be capable of producing such volumes of liquid hydrocarbons by 2024.
