Technip Energies targets LNG bright spot

TECHNIP Energies has trained its sights on contracting opportunities in the burgeoning liquefied natural gas sector after the Paris-listed player posted a net profit in its debut financial results following the split from Technip-FMC. Despite the ongoing energy transition, most forecasters expect LNG demand - particularly in Asia - to expand in the coming years, with lower production costs for projects in countries such as Qatar, Australia and the US set to dominate the market. Chief executive Arnaud Pieton told analysts late last week: "The wave of potential LNG awards is not over and we're active on several opportunities." In particular, he highlighted Qatar Petroleum (QP) and its plan to take a final investment decision on two more massive LNG trains - each with a capacity of 8 million tonnes per annum - that underpin its North Field South (NFS) project.
