IOG eyeing sailway of new Core platforms

UK-LISTED Independent Oil & Gas (IOG) is aiming to install two normally unattended installations on its Blythe and Southwark gas fields - part of its so-called "Core" project - in the UK southern North Sea before the end of the second quarter of this year. The two platforms, which have been under construction at fabricator HSM Offshore in the Netherlands, were deemed mechanically complete earlier this month, IOG said this week. Onshore commissioning and system testing is already well under way and is expected to be completed in May. Transportation barges are now at the HSM quayside in preparation for load-out and, once departure checks are completed, the platforms will be ready for sailaway.
