EQUINOR is considering a fast-track tie-back development of its latest discovery offshore Norway where the state-controlled major and its partners may have unearthed nearly 70 million barrels of recoverable resources. The Rover North oil and gas find on production licence 923 lies close to the North Sea producing Troll field in what is one of the most mature areas on the Norwegian continental shelf. Equinor and its partners in the licence - DNO, Petoro and Welles-ley Petroleum - drilled a pair of wells, the 31/1-2 S wildcat and the 31/1-2 A appraisal, in 349 metres of water using the semi-submersible West Hercules. Well 31/1-2 S was drilled to a depth of 3439.5 metres below sea level and a measured depth of 3555 metres. Well 31/1-2 A was drilled to a vertical depth of 3452 metres below sea level and a measured depth of 3876 metres.
