JAPAN'S Inpex is closing in on the selection of bidders for two of the four front-end engineering and design contracts for its giant Abadi liquefied natural gas project in Indonesia. Preparations are ongoing to begin the FEED work "at an early stage, although a delay is expected due to the Covid-19 pandemic", the operator said in a project update earlier this month. The FEED work is expected to take between one and two years, and will be split into four separate contracts covering each of the four massive production facilities -a floating production, storage and offloading vessel; an array of subsea production equipment; an offshore gas export pipeline; and an onshore LNG plant. So far, Inpex has selected the companies that will bid for the two subsea FEED contracts.
