Singapore's Keppel Corporation has pledged to plant 10,000 trees in the island nation in support of the National Parks Board's (NParks) One Million Trees movement. Keppel Care Foundation, the group's philanthropic arm, will be donating S$3 million (US$2.2 million) to the Garden City Fund to support the planting of 10,000 trees over the next five years in parks and nature reserves in Singapore. "As a company providing solutions for sustainable urbanisation, Keppel views sustainability as central to our strategy," said Keppel chief executive Loh Chin Hua who was on hand to himself plant a species of tree called Palaquium obovatum. "Through our commitment to plant 10,000 trees, we hope to further strengthen our focus on addressing the challenges of climate change and bring together more in our community to contribute to a greener and more sustainable Singapore for future generations." Keppel said this is the single-largest donation pledged for tree planting in Singapore to date.
