CANADIAN natural gas player Pieridae Energy has resolved issues with KBR over the US contractor's decision to pull out of negotiations for the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning work at the Goldboro liquefied natural gas project in Nova Scotia, Canada. Under the agreement announced on 12 August, Pieridae will acquire the right to transition all of KBR's work product created so far to a replacement contractor at a later date. KBR in October 2019 signed its initial deal with Pieridae after talks between the project proponent and McDermott International over an EPC contract collapsed due to the former's financial issues. It was reported late last month that KBR planned to exit most of its LNG construction projects because the company does not want to participate in lump-sum construction work, partly due to the impact of Covid-19. However, Pieridae chief executive Alfred Sorensen last week said that the Goldboro project remains a solid prospect, with a majority of key permits already in hand and customer agreements with Germany's Uniper for half of the facility's capacity.
