EQUINOR has handed Subsea 7 an engineering, procurement, construction and installation deal worth more than $50 million for the pioneering Northern Lights carbon transport and storage project in Norway. The Norwegian state-controlled oil and gas player has also dished out a related deal to compatriot outfit Aibel worth around $16 million. The deal will see Subsea 7 engineer, fabricate and install 100 kilometres of carbon dioxide pipeline to run from the intermediate storage site at Energiparken in Oygarden on Norway's west coast to the CO_2 storage complex in the North Sea. The contract, announced late last week, will also see Subsea 7 install a 36-kilometre umbilical as well as perform tie-in and commissioning activities.
