TOTAL has invited bids from a diverse range of global offshore engineering fabricators as the French supermajor looks to press ahead with development of its Halfdan North and Valdemar Bo South fields in the Danish North Sea. Progress on the schemes comes after Denmark last year agreed to cancel future oil and gas licensing rounds and to end all extraction by 2050, although existing licence holders can move ahead with schemes they already have on the table. Total sent out invitations to tender in the last fortnight to interested contractors as it seeks two small normally unattended platforms-each weighing a total of about 2500 to 3000 tonnes-and one reception module, weighing a few hundred tonnes.
