BRAZILIAN state-controlled oil giant Petrobras has launched a fresh tender to contract one or more well stimulation support vessels and associated fluids and services to carry out operations at oil production wells in the country. Petrobras currently has three WSSVs in operation in Brazilian waters - the Blue Angel and BJ Blue Marlin vessels from Baker Hughes on hire until June 2022 and October 2022, respectively, and the Stim Star Brasil vessel from Halliburton on charter until December 2024. One industry source suggested the new tender is aimed at finding replacements for the two Baker Hughes vessels that have long-term contracts expiring next year, with potential deals valued at more than $100 million, depending on the number of WSSVs to be chartered.
