SBM Offshore has sounded out interest among Chinese yards for the engineering, procurement and construction job for a floating production, storage and offloading vessel destined for the next development phase at the ExxonMobil-operated Stabroek block offshore Guyana. The FPSO could be the largest yet to be deployed by the US supermajor on a prolific tract that has to date yielded estimated recoverable resources of around 9 billion barrels of oil equivalent. China-based yard officials said Dutch floater specialist SBM has approached at least six yards in China to gauge their interest in the provision of the FPSO for the fourth development phase on Stabroek, encompassing the Yel-lowtail discovery.
