CHINA Union Offshore has submitted the lowest commercial proposal in a Petrobras tender for the charter of an accommodation and maintenance vessel for operations offshore Brazil, in a competition marked by several technical glitches. Petrobras currently has a fleet of five flotels on hire, mainly in the Campos basin, serving as living quarters for hundreds of offshore oil workers performing duties on nearby production platforms. According to two industry sources, China Union finished ahead of the competition after offering the Stavanger Spirit vessel for a dayrate of about $57,500.
