Petrobras starts chase for Buzios-7 floater work

BRAZIL'S Petrobras has launched the first in a series of tenders to contract a large floating production, storage and offloading vessel destined for the Buzios field in the Santos basin pre-salt province. Petrobras invited contractors to submit commercial proposals on 18 December for the Buzios-7 FPSO - also known as the P-78 unit -two industry sources told Upstream. Ten companies have qualified to bid for the P-78 FPSO, including Japan's Modec and Toyo Engineering Corporation, South Korean trio Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, Hyundai Heavy Industries and Samsung Heavy Industries, Singapore's Keppel Offshore & Marine, Netherlands-based SBM Offshore, UK-headquartered TechnipFMC and Brazilian players BrasFels and EBR. Another three companies - Italy's Saipem, Singapore's Sembcorp Marine and Brazil's UTC Engenha-ria - have been disqualified but have appealed to take part in the tender.
