Shell targets deep waters

SHELL has gained approval from Mexico's National Hydrocarbons Commission (CNH) to drill the Chimalli-1EXP wildcat in the Perdido fold-belt, beginning in early September. The well will target Oligocene and Eocene objectives at a total depth of 3497 meters in a water depth of 2043 metres, using Grupo R's semi-submersible Muralla Ⅳ. Prospective resources are estimated at 238 million barrels of oil equivalent, with a probability of geologic success of 23%.
