CHINESE energy giant Sinopec is preparing to bring down the curtain on its offshore Western Australia oil venture following the expiry of one of its two petroleum permits. The company has been the majority owner and operator of the Puffin and Talbot discoveries in the Vulcan sub-basin off northwest Australia since June 2008.
