NEPTUNE Energy has extended the schedule of a development drilling campaign at its Fenja field development off Norway amid the coronavirus crisis after spudding an initial pilot well at the weekend, with start-up of the field now pushed back to the end of next year. The first of the geo-pilot wells is now being drilled using Seadrill's semi-submersible West Phoenix at the field, on the Neptune-operated production licence 586 in the Norwegian Sea, after it was spudded on 26 April. The UK operator said the drilling effort "has been modified to address delays resulting from the impact of Covid-19 with the licence partners opting to carry out drilling in three phases over the next two years". "This also provides greater flexibility to respond to subsurface insights gained from the geo-pi-lots and the current challenging market conditions," the company added.
