Equinor calls off seismic shoot

NORWEGIAN operator Equinor has been forced to postpone plans for an advanced 3D seismic acquisition campaign on the Bacalhau pre-salt development off Brazil due, in part, to the difficulties that geophysical contractors are facing in crewing their vessels amid the coronavirus pandemic. Equinor was planning to carry out a proprietary survey covering 2232 square kilometres using ocean-bottom node (OBN) technology, paving the way for a development drilling programme earmarked for 2021. Seabed Geosolutions, a joint venture between Fugro and CGG, had already chartered the vessel Vantage and the seismic node vessel Subsea Viking from Norwegian shipping company Eidesvik Offshore. The Subsea Viking was to be used for the installation of the seabed nodes via remotely operated vehicles.
