CHINESE yard Bomesc Offshore Engineering is set to win a contract from Japanese floater specialist Modec for the engineering, procurement and construction of the topsides for the Buzios-5 floating production, storage and offloading vessel destined for Petrobras' Buzios pre-salt field off Brazil. Multiple Asia-based industry officials said Modec has finalised the commercial terms for the Tianjin-based yard to deliver the topsides next year, when the modules will be shipped to Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry's facilities in Dalian city for integration. The sources said Bomesc's facilities in Tianjin currently have fabrication work ongoing on a number of FPSOs and liquefied natural gas modules, but the yard is running at full capacity amid efforts to catch up with time lost due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
