Opec talk aids crude recovery

CRUDE futures attempted a recovery midweek amid bullish noises from Opec for continued production curbs to tackle a price rout triggered by the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus in China. Oil had tumbled on Monday to its lowest level since October as fears grew that the virus could wreak havoc with demand from the world's second-largest economy. A tepid recovery, however, set in on Tuesday after Saudi Arabia vowed to take remedial action with other leading exporters to keep a floor under the faltering oil market.
