Petrobras to go deep in Potiguar basin return

PETROBRAS is considering a resumption of exploration drilling in the offshore portion of Brazil's Potiguar basin in the hope of unlocking a commercial discovery in the deep waters of one of the country's oldest hydrocarbon-producing provinces. The Brazilian state-controlled oil company has submitted an environmental study to federal regulator Ibama asking for a drilling licence to spud a single well in Block POT-M-859 in the northern equatorial margin. Drilling of the Sombreiro prospect is earmarked for February 2024 in water depths of about 2340 metres.
