WNEL charters rig for drilling off Indonesia

INDONESIAN independent West Natuna Exploration Ltd (WNEL) has chartered a jack-up rig built by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) after the unit was abandoned by Singapore-based drilling services provider ESSM. The charter secured by China Oilfield Service Ltd (COSL) will commit the rig to drilling two wells starting mid-September at the WNEL-operated shallow-water Mako gas field on the Duyung production sharing contract off Indonesia. Sources said the CJ46 design jack-up Asian Endeavour last week left SWS for Singapore to have some equipment installed for the drilling campaign before heading to Indonesia.
