Pennsylvania reports gas output record from Marcellus

THE US state of Pennsylvania produced a record 6.1 trillion cubic feet of natural gas from unconventional wells in 2018 as output from the Marcellus shale play surged. That is an 800 billion cubic feet increase over 2017 and represents the largest volume of natural gas produced in Pennsylvania in a single year, according to a report from the state's Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). Output rose despite the number of unconventional wells drilled dipping from 810 in 2017 to 777 in 2018.
