FOR a passionate amateur artist like Alan Curran, Verus Petroleum's recent move to new offices look-ing out above Aberdeen has been enjoyable. "The eighth floor doesn't sound high but for Aberdeen that is high, and the views across the city are absolutely staggering," says the 59-year-old industry veteran and chief executive of the UK player. "I am fascinated by the light, the city skyline, the geometry of the streets and chimney stacks. It's marvellous." Also visible to the east is the North Sea, where in recent years billions of dollars of new invest-ment has started to flow from Verus and a number of other private equity-backed oil and gas companies, including Chrysaor, Siccar Point Energy and Neptune Energy.
