BHP targets tender for Trion

BHP is understood to be eyeing a concept decision in the coming months on a development solution for the Trion discovery in Mexican waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The Australian company is expected to issue a tender as early as this summer to set up what could be a design competition among providers. BHP has been considering concept options of a floating production, storage and offloading vessel or a semi-submersible production unit combined with a floating storage unit, according to sources. While BHP executives have long said they are leaning towards an FPSO, that has yet to be determined as a final development solution.
