Allseas to decommission topsides from Statfjord A

EQUINOR has awarded a major decommissioning contract for the Statfjord A topsides off Norway to Swiss marine contractor Allseas, with the platform to be dismantled at Kvaerner's Stord facility, where it was built. State-controlled Norwegian major Equinor will shut in the platform in 2022,43 years after it started production, with Allseas to use its giant twin-hulled offshore construction and heavy-lift vessel Pioneering Spirit on the removal job. Allseas, through offshoot Excal-ibur Marine Contractors, in turn handed a subcontract to Norwegian yard Kvaerner, which has set a target of recycling or reusing more than 98% of the 48,000-tonne topsides.
