摘要

AUSTRALIA'S homegrown oil and gas contractors are working in other sectors as they await potential new opportunities linked to the next round of oil and gas projects, writes Russell Searancke. The sector has spent the last few years consolidating and adapting to the changes wrought during the industry downturn. Local services companies including Worley, Clough, Civmec, Broadspectrum, AGC AusGroup and Cimic (formerly Leighton) have seen their Australian oil and gas order books shrink. Sydney-based Worley recently acquired Jacobs Engineering's energy, chemicals and resources division for US$3.2 billion, setting its strategy on building "a world-class international maintenance, modifications and operations, or MMO, capability... by leveraging Jacobs ECR's North American refining and chemical MMO expertise across Worley's global platform."
