CHINA'S CNOOC Ltd is preparing before the end of March to launch a subsea production system (SPS) tender as it looks to redevelop its Lufeng 22-1 oilfield as part of a new overall development plan targeting a cluster of South China Sea fields. Sources said CNOOC Ltd is set to invite bids for four subsea production trees, most likely after the Chinese New Year, to a number of SPS specialists. Expected contenders include UK-based TechnipFMC, Aker Solutions of Norway, GE-controlled Baker Hughes of the US, Schlum-berger-owned OneSubsea and possibly Chinese privately-owned subsea equipment manufacturer MSP-Drilex.
