A Singapore-based specialist in turret mooring systems is well positioned for an important contract linked to the US$1 billion-plus Sao Vang and Dai Nguyet gas and condensate development in Vietnam. The development concept for the project consists of a large central processing platform, a floating storage and offloading vessel and a subsea pipeline connection to the existing Nam Con Son 2 pipeline. The main contracts have already been awarded - the 29,000-tonne platform to PetroVi-etnam Technical Services Corporation's division PTSC Mechanical & Construction, the transportation and installation work to McDermott, and the leased FSO to an alliance between MISC and PTSC. The contract to supply the external turret for the FSO has been an ongoing contest for some months, and sources said that Promor entered the competition quite late on against larger rivals including National Oilwell Varco, Sofec, London Marine Consultants and possibly Bluewater.
