摘要

CHEMICALS giant Ineos is to invest $660 million in a project to extend the life of the key Forties Pipeline System (FPS) crude export line, writes Rob Watts. Ineos said the scheme will give the North Sea link, which has a capacity of about 550,000 barrels per day, another 20 years of life into the 2040s. Ineos said it will improve the reliability of the 500-kilometre system by modernising environmental systems and implementing the latest technology. Late in 2017, the pipeline, which pumps about 500,000 bpd, was shut in for several weeks after the discovery of a crack in an onshore section. Ineos FPS chief executive Andrew Gardner said: "North Sea oil and gas producers are telling us that they want to be in the North Sea well into the 2040s so we are making this commitment to be there with them."
