The Bible has several references that begin "Woe unto you lawyers ..." Shakespeare wrote, "First, kill all the lawyers." Lawyer jokes abound in today's society. Evidently, lawyers have not been well received throughout history. Whether it is due to the nature of the circumstances that surround the need for an attorney, or the fact that their dubious tendency toward "shysterness" may be well-deserved, the majority of people believe that a lawyer is a necessary evil that they hope they never have to encounter.
