Re-Topping a '70 GTO without the car

This is the story of two experienced California trimmers, Carl Ford and his brother Paul, and how they replaced the top on a 1970 Pontiac GTO convertible. What makes this job noteworthy is the limited time available to complete the installation, and, more importantly, the fact that the vehicle was not available during the installation. That's because the GTO was undergoing a complete restoration at Colvin Automotive in Austin, Texas, during the time the Fords were to replace the top. But that wasn't the only hitch-all work had to be completed within seven days to meet the client's schedule. This meant that the brothers were left with the stripped stock convertible top frame and only one week in which to create a new top that was fitted to the frame and ready for re-installation.
